 Disk Cleanup utility allows you to delete temporary internet files, recycle bin contents, temporary files, web client files, as well as compress files that have not been accessed for a while to free up space on your hard disk.

Starting Disk Cleanup

  • Select Start > Run and enter cleanmgr in the dialog box and click the 'OK' button. Disk Cleanup brings up a small dialog box that calculates how much space can be made available. Wait for completion.
  • On completion, Disk Cleanup window appears.

Disk Cleanup Files

  • Select the Files to delete. Optionally, click 'View Files' button to get more information about the files available for deletion.
  • Open 'More Options' tabbed region to cleanup Windows Components, Installed programs not used, and system restore points. 

More Options for Disk Cleanup

  • Click 'OK' button to start the cleanup process.
