What do you do if you do not remember the password in your Home PC. At work, you can request the Help Desk or Administrator to reset the password. For your Home PC you can create a Password Reset Disk and use it to reset Administrator password, if required.

You can create a password disk to use it if need be by following the steps below:
  • Open Control Panel
  • Select ' User Accounts'.
  • Select an user account to change.
  • Click 'Prevent a forgotten password' in the Related Tasks region. Forgotten Password Wizard appears. Click <Next> button.
  • Insert a blank disk and click the <Next> button to create a password reset disk. By default floppy drive gets listed. *If you wish to use a removable drive such as jump drive, first insert the drive on to your PC, and restart the computer*.
  • Enter the 'current user account password' and click the <Next> button to start password key generation.
  • Click the <Next> button and click <Finish> to complete.
  • Keep the Disk in a safe place as anyone can access sensitive information on your PC with the disk.
  • The reset disk is only applicable for the specific computer for which it was created. If you have more than one PC, create reset disk for each of them.
