Computing - Windows
IP (Internet Protocol) Address is a unique set of numbers that identifies your computer on the internet. It could be either Static (never changes or remains constant) or Dynamic (changes for each session as in a dial-up service). How often have we wondered on how to check the IP Address? We seem to know but unable to recollect. A simple tip is given below:
  • On Windows NT, 2000, or Windows XP open the 'command prompt' window and enter ipconfig at the prompt
  • Enter ipconfig /all to display detailed information.
  • Need Help? enter ipconfig/? to get usage information on ipconfig.
  • On Windows 98, select Start > Run and enter winipcfg to get IP Address.
  • If your ISP assigns Dynamic IP address, you will be assigned a new IP Address for each session. Hence, if you need to verify the IP Address, first ensure that you are connected to the Internet before verifying the IP.
