Dictionary.com defines Trojan Horse as 'A Program that appears to be legitimate but is designed to have destructive effects, as to the data residing in the computer onto which the program was loaded'. The Computer User is lured to open a program that appears to be legitimate and useful. For example, a program termed 'scan_virus.exe' might actually insert virus into your computer. Trojan Horse programs are spread by way of email attachments or might be due to some programs downloaded from the Internet. As these programs are masked their real identity is not known until the damage has been done. A Trojan Horse is designed to bring harm such as erasing the files from your PC, uninstalling Firewall or other protection software, injecting virus programs etc. Never open an executable email attachment from an unkown source and exercise caution while downloading and installing software from the Internet. Install a good anti-virus software to scan not only the files and programs in the hard drive but the email attachments as well.
