Xaraya is an extensible Open Source Content Management System released under the terms of GNU General Public License. It is PHP based and supports databases that include MySQL and PostgreSQL and runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. Features Features of Xaraya include: - An extensible Modular system. By configuring Hooks one can add extra functionality to other modules. For example, let us assume that we would like to have the Commenting feature in the Articles module. The Articles module comprises of News, Documents, Web Links etc as the Items. Using Xaraya, you can opt to have the Commenting feature in some or all of the 'Items' in the Articles module (i.e only in News, or in News and Web Links, or all of them - any combination you need!)
- An excellent 'Article' module that comes preconfigured with News, Documents, Links, FAQ, Reviews, Pictures, Reviews, Downloads, and Random Quotes. You can also modify or add to meet your needs.
- Separating the content from the template. With Xaraya it is possible to have different themes for different areas of the website. Most PHP based sites suffer from a 'boxy' look. Xaraya can be made to look different.
- Short url support.
- Excellent 'Category' structure makes it possible to define an unlimited number of categories and sub-categories.
- Efficient caching system to cache pages, queries, and session-less caching.
- Privileges and Roles module to grant access privileges and to manage users and groups.
Download Xaraya can be downloaded from here. The following options are available for download and install: - Core Package: All core and related files.
- Base Package: All core modules plus commonly used modules.
- Full Package: All modules of Xaraya.
If you have space or memory constraints (in a Shared Hosting, for example) it will be good to start with the 'Core' package and add other modules on a case to case basis. This article from Xaraya's website outlines the instructions required to install 'Xaraya'.
