Web - Sharepoint 2007

Sharepoint by default displays the list items in a tabular format. The 'title' of the list item is hyperlinked and the user has to click the link to get further details on the item. This method though useful, also involves time as the user has to click each link to get all details. Sharepoint also gives the flexibility to preview list items, though this is not commonly used as it is sort of hidden with other styles.

The following are the steps to display preview of the list items:

  •  Open the default view of the list for which you require preview feature
  • Select View > Modify this view (You require design or full control to modify the view)
  • Scroll down and select 'Style' - click the plus sign next to the 'Style' to expand it
  • Select 'Preview Pane' and click 'OK'

Navigate back to the list and place the cursor on the item to get a preview window!

Doesn't work. The preview is of the document properties only, not a preview of the document contents.
