Bringing Personal Goods into Canada

{lang: 'ar'}

As a permanent resident one is entitled to bring personal goods into Canada without import duty. Preparing the required forms in advance, expedites the Landing process. The procedure is simple and listed below

  • Make two lists. The first list is for goods you will be taking with you and the second list is for goods that are to follow subsequently.
  • You need to list the Description of the Goods, Serial Number of the Item if available, and the value in Canadian Dollars..
  • Are there Customs forms for this? Yes, you need to fill in couple of forms listed at http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/menu/AFAF_B-e.html.
  • When you access the above link, download and print B4 (Personal Effects Accounting Department) and B4A (Personal Effects Accounting Department -List of Goods Imported).
  • You can also prepare a typewritten list and have them as annexures to the above forms.
  • For Gold Jewels, Customs require that you list out the items and include photographs for identification.
  • At the time of landing this expedites the process. Customs will countersign and give you a copy for your records.
