Google Maps API allows users to insert Google Maps on their website using Javascript. However, one can also insert Google maps without the use of API. The map could be a simple map, driving directions etc. This article outlines the steps:
- Go to http://maps.google.com
- Enter location, directions etc as required and have it displayed on the page
- Click ‘Link to this page’ on the top right corner of the map
- A window is displayed giving options on whether you would like to paste link in e-mail or embed in a website
- To customize the display, click ‘Customize and preview embedded map’ link. This gives option to set the map size to either small, medium, large, or define a custom size
- Copy and paste the HTML onto the web page to display
