When you copy from a different source document and paste in Word or copy and paste within the same document, a Paste Options icon appears. Click the icon poplist to view the options available; one can choose to retain the source formatting, use the destination formatting, or keep text only.
If one frequently uses the copy and paste function, it is possible to set defaults in Word 2007.
Click Set Default Paste as seen in the screen print above. This displays the Word Options > Advanced region window. The Cut, copy, and paste region lists the various tasks for which one can set defaults.
The Word Options window can also be accessed from Office Button > Word Options
This feature is quite helpful, if one were to use the copy and paste function frequently. Word 2003 does not have the option to set defaults.
